If so, is it real expensive? Wondering what it would cost to get a rusty front bumper replated.

The experience I've had around here is that it was worth searching kijiji/craiglist and all the buy/sell crap I could find for 2-3 weeks to find a wheel to match a set rather then get it rechromed, it was worth over double what the rims were new.

"Chrome" is cheap, it's the prep work to get it done that'll cost as much as the process itself.

I was looking at a chrome plated police push bumper for a later project. The bumpers are almost impossible to find. I found one, but it's rusty. So, it's not an issue where I can probably find another one all that easily. And it probably won't be in that great of shape if I do.

You may be money ahead just finding a new replacement for it. Unless it is hard to find of course. The process takes a couple days and the prep work involved it the time consuming part.

I was going to suggest on your other post with he SSP that you take a look at SSP.org. Them guys there have just about anything you would want or at least know where to find it.

I last got some parts rechromed 2 years ago and it included the following:

Parts plated:
2 - 15" motorcycle rims
1 - Kickstart lever
1 - Shift lever
1 - Motorcross style handlebar
1 - Exhuast flange

Total cost: $500.

If your intereseted, see what Advanced Plating in TN has for pricing on something like that, might not be too bad.

The website was mentioned in the SSP Mustang thread, too.

For your bumper, depending on it's condition, I would guess in the $200-$350 range. For MY bumper (1970 project), I'm having to get welding done due to rust issues, prep work, and chroming in the $350 ballpark. Shop around for deals, man.

EDIT: We will see how well their work is later. That was just my quote from them.
