Anybody else out of work due to the beer disease?

Screw this, I'm gonna go play leisure suit larry...

While wearing a leisure suit?

I've gotten several messages today from local mom and pop chains that are adding curbside pickup. Everybody's trying to adapt to the new reality.

Apparently that isn’t working out well.

Day 2 and mom pops are starting to shut down, I suppose not enough traffic to justify being open.

Ugh. That's not good news this early in the process.

Here's another little tidbit many should be thinking about...
If your an older retiree with a state/county/city/unionized pension, be aware that the pension funds are almost always tied into stocks/bonds/investments.
Over the past 2 weeks the market has dumped 30%.
Guess what that's doing to your pension funds. May not effect you younger people, but it may very well hurt your parents or grand parents.
It would be a real pisser if all of a sudden your pension $$$ stopped. At 70 years old, you might have to go out and get a job !!!
OH, WAIT...there are no jobs cause everyone is being laid off unless you want to deliver for Domino"s.

Got the word this afternoon that only emergency orders will be permitted. I'm assuming we go to emergency mode tomorrow after a virtual town hall meeting. Sucks but just means I work alone now but can do any shift I want but won't be very productive. Everyone else has to work from home or schedule time when no one else is around. Wife is now treating confirmed cases.

Working in a Mailroom, I will be here until the USPS shuts down. I work in Child Support, and people get upset when those checks aren't in the mailbox. also, if they do start giving paper checks to stimulate the economy, guess who will be stuffing those envelopes and shipping them to the Post Office. ? This GUY. Looks like all this great weather is gonna go to waste.

Better than sitting at home not getting paid. You’re fortunate that way.

BUT, I could be home AND getting paid. I have SO much leave/sick time accumulated, I could take a month off and not miss a check.
Some are saying we will HAVE to use it if the Governor shuts us down, but I say " what about those who don't have as much as I do." I am still fortunate, I know.

They just announced that our plant will shut down on Apr 3 for at least two weeks. No word on whether or not maintenance will be able to come in and work. We’ve been saving up some projects.

Hate to hear that, but hope you can stay busy.

I feel for you guys that are out of work. This is going to hurt everybody financially and mentally. Some of you are already seeing the effects and some of us won’t see it for a while... but we’ll all see it in our 401k, retirement plan, paycheck, etc.

I elected to let my employees work some extra hours in my normal spot this week to earn some extra money and perhaps help them through this. I would like to say the time off has been good for me... but it hasn't. I log into my store and see sales slipping and payroll increase. It's like I see my dreams starting to slip away. There are people that have it way worse then I do at this point. My wife has been working/supervising an associate who owns 10 locations for the last year. She was finally getting them turned around and with the last four weeks or so all her work basically evaporated and the owner is totally strapped and on the verge of going under. We have huge amounts of stress right now.

I find myself dwelling on it and going into overload with all this... it's everywhere.... and rightfully so... there are some that still don't get it. But tomorrow I'm gonna leave the TV off and not log into my store... just tinker in the garage to free my mind from all of it for a day.
