Anybody else out of work due to the beer disease?

Well. Since several states have mandated business closings, we’re running out of parts earlier than expected. Our two week shutdown is beginning Saturday. Maintenance will be allowed to work, but only 40 hrs per week. We normally get 48 hrs + overtime. That’s going to be a big financial hit. Bright side is it’s better than 0 hrs. If I didn’t have alimony payments, it would be ok. When production starts up again we will still be capped at 40 hrs.

How are y’all doing?

Full steam ahead here in the mailroom. I have taken some personal time off to help my girls. My 12 yo has been watching the 4yo, and she deserves some time off. It's not her fault or responsibility. Not that she's not capable, just want her to not kill her little sister.:buttkick:

Other than splitting the shop in two separate, non-consecutive shifts, everything is normal. We don't get over time pay and compensatory (equal time off for extra time worked) time is treated like it is coming directly out of management’s pocket. So, no more time than usual and no less time.

I'm going in twice a week since we are in essential maintenance mode. I could go in more often but really have very little to maintain for when we get rolling again. Two days a week will be enough and lots of work stuff to do from home. VERY quiet last night, there, and to and fro. Wife stopped at a few smaller grocery stores in far northern MD on her way home from the hospital this morning and found everything she was looking to get.

Based on my surveys, 100% of Americans own ford lightnings.

That would be impossible, there were only like 30,000 produced from 99 to 04. Talkin the second generation Lightnings, not including the first generation that were produced from 93 to 95. LMAO!!

In 04 something like 3800 were made. Mine is 2750.

Well my surveys indicate something very different. 100% of the people I surveyed owned a ford lightning which means every american must own one.

I mean i only surveyed one person but the results are irrefutable.

You can’t argue with that logic.

I left at lunch today because I can't have parts for anything until tomorrow and there was no more coming for today.

We are starting to split into two shifts starting tomorrow. Each shift works every other day. If you are on, sell a bunch of work for the next day, and want to come do it you are allowed, but if you are off and don't have anything hanging you aren't allowed to be in.

I have largely managed to get myself exempted from that by having a couple really big jobs sitting inn backlog. I'm overhauling a 6F35 trans from an Explorer that had a thrust bearing fail. Then hopefully for Monday I have an engine coming for a Transit-250, but Ford has been playing games and holding up the OK for the repair.

The powers that be came up with a plan...
1/3 of our shift will be working from for home 3 days, then next 1/3 will work from home, then the last 1/3 will. Then the pattern starts again. I don’t really get what this will accomplish having 2 guys off for 3 days, but I still get paid my normal salary.
I still don’t know how a mechanic is supposed to work from home... but I’ll find a way to work on a truck I guess. Maybe I’ll put the leather Explorer seats in my Ranger.

Talk to the truck over the phone? Take a transmission home with you?
