anybody else irritated?

a bill landed on his desk that said "raise student loan rates from 2.8% to 6.1%. He passed it. No advisor help.

One of the reasons we wiped out a large chunk of our emergency fund to ditch several adjustable rate student loans my wife had. They were about to pop from about 2% to 6%, we had the money in the bank, so we ditched the loans.

Alright, finally did some actual real searching on this. Turns out it was set to expire from the beginning (when they passed the original bill). But congress couldn't seem to agree on extending it, so it still stands. Both parties tried to pass bills that extend the lower rates but neither bill got enough votes to pass. Apparently each parties bill did some things different and they're in too much of a bi-partisan pissing match to work together and achieve the same goal.

The actual doubling/increase takes place on July 1st.

Technically nothing passed and the president doesn't seem to have actually signed a thing, yet.

I did see a small thing to temporarily extend them (a very short while) that did pass Congress, but the Senate turned it down, and that was the end of that.

I'm just as annoyed as the rest of you on this. I'm paying off 6 years worth of College and my bread and butter is $8.25/hour. But from all the articles I read, this issue doesn't appear to be the current presidents fault, as much fun as we're having ripping on him.
