Any Truck Drivers

And asking "what fer truck you got" is common around here. That does NOT make it grammatically correct.

you know..... nobody but you really cares .......

Yeah, but it's wet and cold out and it's something to do.

not wet but cold here ...... I need somebody to LEARN me how to replace a bedroom window.

One time my I learned how to sneak out a bedroom window.

thats why I need to fix the window. The boy knocked it out by accident, but now uses it to get out of the house.

Hauling grain--hmm. You drive a whipped-assed old tractor that is parked all year with mice having orgies in it. The tires are rotten recaps, the air brakes are scare-brakes and the guy driving it has no clue about the adjusters. And it's fun because you don't do it very often so you beat it like you stole it (more often than not it's an old Detroit and it sounds cool so it's hard not to drive it like an ass) and the rest of use hide during harvest season so we don't get killed.

Two-speed axle is easy. Flip the switch, let off the gas and it thumps into the other speed. It's harder to do empty because you go through the gears to quickly, but loaded when you spend some time in each gear, it's no problem because you need that gear and the truck is good and ready for it. I use the Gear Vendors in my pickup the exact same way.

There truely is nothing like a screamin Detroit, But i treat others peoples stuff better than my own stuff so it will probably be in better shape than when i get in it. But i think this guy takes good care of his stuff to begin with, so I don't think it will be to bad.

Farm rules and regs are a bit different than hauling freight. I kinda like it since the DOT inspectors always have a grain truck on the side for good reasons! Their poor upkeep and resultant fines keep the inspectors busy!

I've driven everything but a bus....12 years OTR and 12 local.

Man that reminds me of something that I did years back. I was seeing an older woman (she was 30 and I was 17). She and he husband were separated. She used to leave her bedroom window open for me after midnight on our 'special nights'. She had long frilly curtains that she thought was sexy. I used to climb up a tree and crawl across a huge branch to leap into the room. It was like I was Zorro!!! That was her fantasy. Well…one night the oldest daughter was in her mom’s room and saw the window open and she closed it. I came leaping into a closed window….lol!! Crash!!! Bam!!! Zoom!!! Shatter!! Like an old Batman TV show. Glass hurts!!!!

it's it for a farm then you dont need a cdl as long as you dont go more then a 100 to 150 air miles of the farm. and as of 2010 you have to go to a cdl school to get you license and i would recommend that anyway. the only really hard thing is the pre trip for the test cause you gotta remember a lot of stuff and if you fail the air brakes part you automatically fail but if you know the basics of driving and remember you have a long trailer the driving isnt all that bad. when i took my test i only got 3 marks off of my drive test.

as stated above employer wants the temp cdl even though it isn't required.

Found out you don't even have to take the test for a temp cdl, just need to go in and pay for it. I am waiting for the final approval on the job before getting it though.

And can you provide a link to back up that school is mandatory, I have never heard about it. I am thinking about going for full cdl at the end of the summer. I know some states made it mandatory but never heard about all of them doing it.

i have never heard that school is mandatory for a cdl granted its been awhile since i got mine but ive never heard that

If you can find someone that will sit in the right hand seat while you have your cdl permit, that would be the way to go. But i would not want to be the guy training. :shok:
I went to a school and it was ok. like someone said above pretrip-pretrip-pretrip. which includes air-breaks. safety, to me, is the biggest issue when driving 80,000 lbs down the road.

I am not getting a permit, I am getting a temp License which pretty much has all the same restrictions as a CDL for someone under 21. But no need for a trainer.
