any one ever done "clutch" stuff in an 85 celica?

My mom owns this beater. Started with the master cylinder I guess. Now they've got it on ramps didn't replace the clutch or the bearing. Just the slave. They can't get the clips on the release bearing/fork

Read about it on a few threads. Everyone says they have a very loose fit.

I don't understand what's so hard.

She wants me to tow it to my house and do it.

I don't wanna go do it cuz I didn't tear it apart. And they've got the tranny bolted up. And it needs dropped. Which is fishie to me. Assuming they tried to put it together without the clips

the reason they think its wrong is the bearing is vey sloppy when the clips in place, its there only so the bearing wont slide off or come off the fork while putting it back together, I bet something got screwed up putting the trans back in, or taking it out so its going to get past on to you, run dude run.......

My exact thoughts. Figured id drop by spend 20 minutes and then leave. Her idiot boyfriend did the work and I'm always cleaning up his mess
