Hey guys, this site seems awesome, but is not really for one of my vehicles I have in mind. I recently bought a 2005 Ford Escape XLT 4WD and have been trying to find a good discussion board/forum for it.

Mazda World has a board for the Mazda Tribute (same thing as Ford Escape), but the place is a ghost town where questions go to die. Other sites seem lame and/or I am unable to register on them.

The best looking site I've found is call Escape-Central. It seems to have knowledgeable people there who actually answer and discuss questions & problems.

However, the registration system is apparently screwed up, or they just don't want new members. I have tried again & again to get registered, but the system does not work right.

Just wondering if there are any members of Escape-Central on here that might could help???

I found an awesome writeup on this site covering changing a broken ABS Tone Ring on a hub of an Escape-it was great write-up by what appeared to be real mechanics who do it for a living. I did the job in like 30 minutes after reading how to!!! Wish this site covered Escapes also.

Well, we don't specifically cater to Escape owners like we do Ranger owners, but we do have a few people around who own them or know quite a bit about them, and we get the occasional odd Joe who thinks that the Escape is an RBV.

Stick around and ask questions, maybe we will know the answer, maybe we won't. Between me, Sasquatch, and Shane odds are really good that someone will know the information you are after.

I joined Escape Central and it seriously took over a year before it was approved.

Like adsm08 suggested. Post your questions on here and you'll more than likely get the answers you need. This forum has by far been the best forum I've ever subscribed to. This forum has an awesome tech section and library, no other forum I've been on has ever had anything close you spend literally days going through the search results on the forum finding bits and pieces of information for repairs.

There are a lot of people on this forum who are either mechanics or have done so many things with their RBV's that they know them inside and out. This is by far the largest knowledge base I've ever found on vehicles, this is a better place to get information than an actual dealer or repair shop oftentimes.

The members on here saved my bronco 2 from being scrapped. I will forever recommend The Ranger Station to any RBV owner. Need to make up some business cards to hand out to people I see in town with these RBV's.

Thanks Guys!!

Good to be welcomed. The level of expertise on this board does appear to be very high. The post some of you very guys were in on regarding the ABS Tone Ring replacement was just excellent.

I have an Acura sedan and they have a site called Acurzine which is very excellent also, was spoiled by that, then couldn't find anywhere good for the Escape.

Everything is running good on the Escape right now. Went though changing out all the fluids in the engine, transmission, and both gear boxes; and replaced the complete front strut/spring assemblies plus sway bar end links and outer tie-rod ends up front and rear shocks. It drives and steers & rides really well now after an alignment.

I've got 2 general questions I'd like some info on. I'll post them when I figure out the right board and get the time.

Non RBV Tech is probably your best bet.

They are actually fairly easy to work on if you have the tools. My buddy just built the transmission in mine, and the axle seal leaked. We had that done in under 30 minutes.

Posting whilst sitting upon the throne.

The proper location would the the non-RBV section to post your questions. However if you post in the wrong section the forum mods will get them moved to the proper place for you eventually and you will receive a message letting you know it was moved usually.

Check out escape-city they're pretty good, I used to be active on there when I had my escape

Yep

I have signed in over there from time to time. I have owned a Mariner and now an escape for 4 years. I also agree that Escape city is another worthwhile site.
you can also PM me any questions and I can see if I can help.
