I just realized I can register my '85 b-II as an antique!!! :icon_surprised: :icon_rofl: or :bawling:.....:dunno: I don't know if there is any upside to this.... maybe cheaper insurance. :icon_idea: I may be able to use this as a loophole to get some of my junk out to the trails without intensive upgrades to pass vehicle inspections and using a trailer.....
:icon_cheers:

PS All my stuff stops and steers properly, its the nitpicking that won't pass. ie; lack of window winders and glass.

not sure how it works up there, but in AR the antique plates exempt you from having to register your vehicle ever again.

I think they usually have a milage restriction, which from the sounds of things would be a non-issue for you.

Here is PA it can't be heavily modified, can't be driven more than so many days a week and so many miles a year, plates are extra, and you have to have special (pronounced "expensive") insurance on it. The only real upside is that it doesn't have to get inspected ever again.

mine is almost an antique. in NC, after it's a certain number of years old, it doesnt have to pass an emissions. just a $12 safety inspection.

i dont know if i'll ever do the antique tag for it. insurance now is about $200 for a 6 month policy period. i dont wanna pay any more than that for it

In CT, anything 20 years old or older can get antique plates. It doesn't really mean anything. There's no restriction on mileage, it's not exempt from emissions or anything, etc. I think taxes are way less, that's really the only advantage.

Loo-z-anna has the 20 year-old "custom vehicle rule"--doesn't get an emissions inspection--just a State Certificate for working brakes/lights/Etc. I got a "custom vehicle" insurance policy for my Ranger...it was 1/2 the cost of regular insurance even the up-graded mileage policy so I can go to Sonic any day of the week/go on weekend trips/go on roadtrips too. I just can't use the truck for going to work--can't use it as a contract-vehicle either(transporting goods for a fee) and it has to be kept in an enclosed garage(building/shop/etc.).

Shop around on the internet for a company that meets your needs...make sure it's a rated/approved company.....and save some $$$$
