Recently every time I am almost to a complete stop, my anti locks engage and the brake pedal hits up against my foot. It wont do it just gradually braking on the road or slowing down, but only at the point where I'm almost at a stop. Also, it doesn't matter how hard I press the brakes in, it still does it. Just had front and back brakes serviced so I don't suppose the problem is coming from there. Any suggestions?

Bad wheel speed signal. That is exactly what the Escapes do when they crack a tone ring.

So would I need a new ABS speed sensor? Also I dont know if it makes a difference, but my ABS light isn't on.

Happend to me!

It is likely a tone ring which is inside the hub. Could be both. You must replace the hub(s). For me it was the left front. Figured it out since it pulled right when I stopped telling me the right brake was working correctly.

Got a timkin from Rock Auto. You get the hub and sensor with harness in one package.

Yours are pressed onto the back of the rotor, different than the 2001 style blueox is talking about.

I've seen sloppy wheel bearings cause this as well.

Now the right side!!!

Now the right side. My long-time friend who owns a Ford dealership did a road test with me while hooked to a diagnostic computer. Interesting to see the tone signal curve for the right side gradually come down until until about 5 mph and then cut out totally.

He said they see this a lot. It generally is the sensor that corrodes causing a
signal loss at low speeds.

So I ordered another hub assembly from Rock Auto.
