I have an '01 4 door 60/40 and found some really nice black leather/power/heated '03 Escape seats. I measured the tracks & Escape are 15" wide and mine are 10" wide. I read in another post to just unrivet the mounts and put mine ont he escape and it will work. I dont understand how this will narrow the 5" to bolt in the original location. Or am I missing somethign about this? I'm hoping its one of those things I wont understand unless I'm looking at them side by side. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping if I can get some insight on this soon I'll do it tomorrow
TIA-Jason

Hi Jason:

I have the same vehicle,Boy those 60-40 seats are a real pain . Had the seats from an Exployer installed in my truck and they slipped right in. They said they had a few problems making the electrical hook-up but everything went right in(I found full power ones). I know this is not much help on the ,"how-to" but it acknowledges the project being feasable. Man the new seats are comfortable, Oh yes I had them install the center council at the same time It all went in and looks great.

If I had access to Explorer seats Id use them, unfortunatley all those seats are toast. Im also going to do the center console and add the overhead and lite visors also.

the Escape seats are great my Parents have one, I think its worth the time to make them fit.

yeah i think im going to go pick them up tomorrow, swap my mounts onto them, and drill new mounting holes in my floor pan, seal mine with silicone, and use bolts/washers (top and bottom), locking nuts, and silicone to mount them.:dunno: Hopefully it works and I can enjoy them :headbang:

I think I speak for many members that will want PICTURES of this process, thank you very much!

I think I would remove the escape rails get a 1/8in steel plate mount the ranger rails to that and then bolt that to the seat. It should be fairly cheap and you wont have to drill new holes in the truck.

the escape driver seat is power so i would like to retain that. would that be possible with this method? from what you suggest i picture the plate going from the rails horizontally out to the seat mounting bolts. is that about right?
