How much would you guys be willing to pay for a '78 LTD?

Original motor, still runs decent. Paint is in "meh" condition (it is original paint afterall), some rust on various minor parts of the body. Guy that owns it says its running a 351w.

He told me that he might be willing to let it go for 2 Grand. Is it worth it? :dunno:

No. I would offer him $900 max. And that's only if it runs really good.

It wouldn't fetch 500 bucks up here. If it was in mint shape, I would guess somewhere in the 1000 to 1500 range.

I'd offer 400, and if he rejects, walk away.

maybe a grand if it's in good shape, but that's MAX!

Thought 2k sounded too high.

I doubt he'll come down on price, I know the guy and hes a stubborn SOB.

So unless he has a sudden change of heart, the hunt continues! Trying to find an older car... Torino or LTD preferrably. Long as it runs half decent and the body isn't rusting itself to pieces.

Any good ideas on where to look? I poke around on ebay and craigslist occasionally but good ones are hard to come across.

I find most of my aquisitions on Kijiji. Craigslist sucks. I get a throbbing headache after about five minutes of searching that place.

Calgary has its own used junk site too, so that tends to help a lot!

Never heard of Kijiji before, thanks for the tip.

Hoping to find something decently priced thats driveable. Needing a DD, to and from work (about 9 miles a day) is about all I need it for. Maybe the occasional social event. Can't get started on the V8 swap for the Ranger till I got something else to drive, and why not make the new ride a neat one :icon_thumby:

if it is garys car you don't want any part of it. it was hit HARD in the side when he got it

Really? From what I've seen it doesnt show much evidence of it, then again...never did get a real good look at it. Just a few good glances whenever he brings it to work.

Decided $2k is way too high for that thing anyway, gonna start poking around junkyards and those free car ad things that Napa has. Gotta find something, the Ranger is starting to get unreliable. Its about to get its 2nd slave cylinder install in barely a year.

open the drivers door and look. and you can not buy cars out of a junk yard to rebuild here if they already have a junk title. if they have a salvage title you have to have a licensed rebuilder do it. and if it is less than 8 years old it has to be inspected 2 or 3 times and it is not really worth it in my opinion. i do know a rebuilder but he scraps most of his stuff. the only ones that get fixed are in decent shape like the 99 blazer he just did.

Ah thats crap. So used to Missouri laws still.

So junkyard finds are out, oh well.

Happen to know of anyone around here that is selling a vehicle thats not a total trash heap? Prefer another Ranger, 4x4 if I can help it this time. Open to other stuff though.

i sold one of them awhile back. had perfect body and paint, no rust.interior flawless...sold for 300 bucks to be made in to the baddest demo machine ever. prety much because you cant give em away

there is a 1st gen in maquan for 1k with a plow. body is decent needs a brake line

Whered you find that at Brian? I'll look into it if you can get me a link or contact info of some kind.

i used to deliver next door do you know where 97 is? if you do head south and you will come to maquan and it is about 2/3 through town behind the building across from the gas station
