How's it going? Ok like the title say another new guy to the forum way up here in Fairbanks, AK. Picked myself up an 84 BII for $150. from what I can tell the last time this thing was register was in 04. has been sitting in a guys yard for god knows how long. Had to dig it out of about 3 feet of snow when i went to get it. First thing I did when i got it home on friday was pull the motor. Easy enough since there was no trans hooked to it. motor looked ugly so i decided to tear it down and replace all the seals. from what I can tell I have not been the first one in to it. found plenty of newer gaskets on it and .030 stamped on all the pistons. Because of the price I got this thing at I am not trying to dump a fortune into it. just trying to make a decent weekend trail rig since I sold my last one when I left Colorado. So my questions to you all is what would you recomend to make it into a practical trail rig. What kind of modifications whould yall like to see tried (body is pretty rough with a good amount of rust so some body mods are definatly in order). And if there is any one else out there thats up here in my area were is a good place to find a few parts. Mainly bell housing and t-case. currently have an m5od from a ranger i belive but no bell housing and it has an electric t-case. would like to hear some opinion back on this along with some ideas ovf what yalll would like to see done but dont want to try on your own truck first.

Welcome to TRS! Some quick bits for you: an M5OD has an integral bell housing, so you should be all set if it is actually an M5OD. Use the tech library http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index.shtml to help identify.

The T-Case will either be a 1350E or 1354E depending on the year of manufacture. To make it work properly you will need the harness and other associated equipment.

Ok so i probly dont have the m5od. I also have no intentions of using the elec t-case. Alwaystrusted manuel more even my 07 250 has one. As far as the 2.8 i dont want to use it but i already have it. It will probly be swapped out at a different time.

i have all the running gear from my 84 B II pulled for the 4.0/m5od swap. it was fm145/1350M. if you need a t-case with shifter, i have it. pm me for details. i have everything that i pulled, except for rear driveshaft

Ok so I was just offer a 93 explorer for 150 bucks. would this be a good one to pull front and rear ends from also has running motor and a few other parts i could use. Just not shure weather or not it has the axles that that are recomended for the swap.

Yea only problem is its an auto and I am having trouble getting clarification if the t-case is eletric or manual.

a tcase is like 50 bucks, don't hold back on that. a 4.0 motor with the d35 and disc 8.8 are great upgrades for your B2.

A t-case may be 50 bucks.... in the lower 48 but up here every one thinks there junk is gold plated and wants a fortune. I did manage to pick up an 83 bronco 2 yesterday and stripped what i needed off of it along with a few extra parts. Probly going to donate the body to a local fire dept for training since its beat beyond belief. Still trying to work a deal on the explorer. guy is being a little shady about it says that it has no tires on it trans is in the back and its burried in snow. which means one giant pain in the rear for me to get on a trailer.

forgot to add in last post. Who is running elec fans? did you pull somthing from a yard or get a new one? if you pulled one from a junk yard what did it come from?

I Think people pull them from taurus's

and i can't find any cars around here for 150 let alone you could get 2. people want at least 500 for their junk around here...

I get lucky with alot of this stuff. got a 99 explorer a couple of weeks ago for 300 because the rack and pinion blew a seal 120 dollar part and current offer on it is 3000. I plan to do this bronco build with the money from flipping cars. that way i only spend extra money on it and not my familys pay check.
