Ok here's the deal gonna be lifting my 2wd 3.0 v6 with either the fabtech 5.5 or RCD 6" lift with 33's I have f6 rear which makes it 3.73 gears Would I have to recalibrate the computer and will 3.73 gears be ok and also which should I go with RCD or fabtech this is my d/d and there won't be any rock climbing or mudding

first off, check out Doetsch. i run their products and love them. fabtech 3" kits are 700. doetsch was 550 shipped with tax. so you get my drift. same mold, better metal, cheaper. i know hard to believe.

they sell a 3" spindle, a 3" coil and UCA, and you can get a 2" block, add a leaf and shackle.

personally id get re arched springs for the back from a chevy though.

to continue on, 3.73 will be no good with 33's. your going to need atleast 4:10, 4.56 if you want it proper. you will burn your trans very quick if you dont.

page 7 or my build thread \/ is the lift install.

RCD is OK, but not great. fabtech is very overpriced.

where i bought from. took 6 days to make it across canada.

they have a 6" lift for $825

3.73's with a 3.0l and 33's will suck. I have 34's 3.73's and a 4.0 and its bad enough. My 5th gear is just about useless under 110 kmh.
You'll need to regear, especially if its your dd.

I have a 4:10 gear set up and run 33x12.5's. I get 24 mpg on the highways and 18-19 around town.

Here’s my truck in 2000 with 33x12.5 T/A’s. I bought it new in July of 99. I added a 3 inch Fabtech lift and 2 inch taller coil springs and a Procomp rear 4 ½ ince add-a-leaf kit. Never had any issues with it. It rides smooth, handles really great, and it's fun to take out on the trails where I ride on.

In early 2001 I added a PA BL (3 inch) These are current photos from late this summer.

^^^^^^^^^^That is the nicest looking Ranger I have ever seen! ^^^^^^^^^^I like everything about it.

Some one wanna point me in the direction of some sites where I can look to re-gear and and what exactly I need to get or what to ask at my local junk yard

Thanks, Bro. I get a lot of Jeeps and other trucks give me the wave when ever we see each other. It makes me feel good. Some people who are driving 4x4s don't know it is a 2wd. Some know right away when they look under the front end....lol

I would never buy a used gear setup. Buy one new. It is not an easy task to install one if you have never done one before. Then, you have to break it in the correct way or you will ruin it. It will cost about $500 for the parts and labor to install the rear gear. Maybe somebody you know can do this?? You can go to Randy's Gear or Yukon Gear and Axle and the prices are good on both sites. You have an 8.8 or the 7.5 rear end? Some people will swap out the 7.5 for an 8.8 and you can get a really good one at a salvage yard with a4:10 already installed. Just make sure you get a warranty on it and it has decent miles on it...not 200,000 miles in other words.

I can get a 7.5 rear with 4.10 gears in it with 33000 miles on it at my local jy for $400 is this good?

You have the 3.0 motor and the 7.5 with 4:10 will be great. But, why not spend an extra $100 and have a new gear installed in yours?
