ok found a recked 92 and looking @ getting a 90 w/ the 2.9 is the engine harness a direct swap or do i need to splice?

The 90s 2.9 still uses a distributor, the 4.0 has always used coil packs, and the coil pack harness is part of the headlight harness.
The best bet is actually to pull all of the engine bay wiring from the donor truck and dump it into the recipient.

using the engine and harness from the 92, and putting them into the 90, everything should be plug and play.
