Angeled VS Flat Lift Blocks

I have two sets of blocks, 1st set are angled and 2nd is flat. What is the difference between the two.

I believe it has something to do with keeping the driveshaft and pinion shaft in line. You'd probably want as little angular difference between the two as possible.
 
Angled blocks adjust the pinion angle...puts it back to spec and resolves any vibration issues. They usually are used in conjunction with a lift shackle since installing those points the pinion upward, can cause vibrations and if it's way off, could take out the pinion bearing I'm told.
