Im getting farther and farther into the restomod of my 84 Ranger. Im about to do the rear main oil seal and oil pump to hold me over until I can get hold of a rebuilt short block or rebuild this one. The oil pressure is just running low and I want to hopefully hold off on a bottom end rebuild. What Im curious about is Im getting conflicting ways of how to do it. With all my other cars i've had to separate the trans from the block. is that true with this one as well? And do I REALLY have to loosen the motor mounts JUST to get at the oil pan?

Just asking for tips and advice in addition to the Chilton manual. Better to know now than when Im elbow deep in 1980's Ford technology. But it could be worse. I could be having to do another HG replacement on my Super Coupe :icon_rofl:

loosening the motor mounts makes pulling the pan nicer.. a lil more wiggle room

I cannot speak on separating the engine and trans tho
