I'm out here in the wonderful state of California, and it's time to try and get the truck legal cuz the tags are about to expire........ Went in today to the referee to try and smog it, passes the actual smog test with flying colors, but fails the visual test cuz of 2 codes in the computer (82 & 83, which are fan codes), they never verified the number on my ECU (which took me all of about 2 minutes to do and its OK), and they want me to show documentation that the cat is the one for my truck!!!! So now I'll fix the fan codes tomorrow and wait for a phone call to find out exactly what documentation they need for the cat......... God, I hate this state and all of its bullshit smog laws, which change every year anyway!!!!!

lol tell em the cat is the one installed on your truck therefor it must be your trucks correct cat..or leave an old one in the bed and tell them thats the right one and it magics the smog away....i wanna come drive my diesel in california...the tree huggers would poop a golden brick when i fly by with georgia tags rolling coal like a train

Documentation that a cat is the one for your truck?

If the truck passes the sniffer test, why the fawk does it even matter??????

Forging that documentation cant be all that difficult..

ca smog

there is allot of people who will fake your smog in ca but it will cost you my buddy has it done with his mustang for about 200 where they scan a donor mustang and put his vin on the smog receipt and being thats there is a billion rangers driving around ca you shouldn't have to much trouble finding one try asking at your local Napa they might be able to help you out if your in the San Diego area I can ask my buddy where he gets his done. If it wasn't convenient for me to get out of state ca plates id say **** the hippies and plate it back in IN but there's smog in my county and driving the old ranger back to indiana every other year isn't worth it

I kept my V8 BII legal by registering it at my old mans address in another county ( farm country, I live in the "big city". )
