My wife is wanting to learn how to shoot and wants a handgun. So for Mothers Day I just ordered her Ruger Wrangler 22lr revolver.

I want her to be really comfortable with it... so it will take spending time and sending a bunch of ammo through it.

I just can't believe how much (if you can even find it) ammo is.

Is it a supply issue?

Will it get any better?

Also a couple of the online resources won't eve send ammo to Illinois... I hate this damn state.

The insane people who think Biden is coming for all our guns have been hoarding it since before the election. Add in the people who think coronavirus is going to be a zombie apocalypse and you're left with a nationwide ammo shortage. Ammo makers were also hit by all the lockdowns last year and now just can't keep up with the idiocy. I think it'll start getting back to normal by the end of the year.

Btw i have that gun. It's pretty fun to shoot.

That pretty much started at the beginning of the Corona sh!t.

If he would quit dumping gas on the fire that might eventually go away too.

It took years for ammo to come back last time, especially .22 and it wasn't as bad. I started dating my wife in '14 and I remember it being a woo-hoo to find .22 then.

I am half scared to shoot anything for fun anymore, there is 0 replenishing at stores. Scheels has shirts on the ammo shelves now.

The reviews are good on it... I think it's the best way to get her comfortable with a handgun.

My oldest daughter just got her FOID card too... so I will most likely have her behind it before I take her to buy one.

Biden and company has already taken steps in that direction. I don't want to do politics here though.

I'm right there with you... I'm keeping what I have for fear I won't be able to replace it without pulling a second mortgage.

Add to that insecurity (panic) the thousands of new gun owners and yes, shortage. Even the 22lr rounds are in short supply.
It's hard to get anything for less than $1.00 a round. The more popular the round, the higher the price. And quantities are really limited. Not that I have first hand experience -- it's just what I've been told

First time gun owners

There is truth I suppose... I have two in my family.

PSA had two whole pallets of 7.62x39 the other day but I don't know anyone who shoots AK's. :dunno:

They had other stuff in stock but everything else was one box per customer (per caliber). Tried the ole walk back in again trick but the lady just laughed at me and said nope gotta wait until tomorrow...

AK's are not the only thing that eats 7.62x39...

I haven’t gone shooting in over a year because the ammo prices are too bad.

I was in cabelas a few weeks ago, and the only ammo they had in stock was a couple boxes of 10ga slugs and a bunch of 7.67 Winchester white box.

I should have bought some AKs when they were cheaper, but the .223 was so much cheaper I bought ARs instead.

I've only got about 20 rounds through my new 6.5 creedmoor because I can't find anymore ammo. Got a crapload of 300 blackout though so I've been shooting random stuff with that since I don’t think im keeping the gun anyway or ever gonna buy anything else chambered for 300 blackout...

The prices are nuts and it's hard to find enough to practice with. The prices af various calibers is all distorted too, with things like 380auto considerably more expensive than 9mm Luger. 12ga buckshot or slugs is insane.

It started well before Biden. You may think it's all idiots, and many of them may well be, but there's lots of people who recognize the ongoing breakdown of society and the need to be armed. It isn't all newbies and it isn't zombies they're concerned about.
