I have a 88 Bronco2 and found out that the altenator is a 65 amp and it calls for an 80 amp output altenator. My ? is, could the lower amp output cause ignition failures due to it not meeting the load demand. The voltage is 13.8 at 114 degs outside temp with A/C on.

If you're battery light isn't coming on, then it's charging well enough for your system.

That said though, if I were in your shoes, it would be getting changed out.

I replaced it yesterday and it seems to have more power and I' ll see how the ignition system holds out in the heat today.

Where you'll notice it most is with everything cranked (a/c, stereo, lights on, etc.) and at an idle.
