I got an Alipine Type E 12" from a friend...free. How would it sound in my truck? extended cab gen-3. Ported or sealed? I want to build box like in Sunk's truck:

I have two 12" Type E's, not in the truck yet though. I found they work get in either a smaller sealed enclosure or a larger ported one. when I had them in my old car they were in a larger ported box and they kciked arse! I too listen to alot of rock and metal not so much on the country though.

I'm at work right now but when I get home I will look up the box volume spec's for the sub and post it up here to help ya choose a box.

as far as how they will sound in your truck goes, that's a good question. one 12" will be plenty for the type of music you prefer.

i want to build the box like posted above that way i still have some good space in the rear for another person ect., im not good at math but it should be within the volume specs, if not, i can make some changes to it.

the box in the picture is about 1 cubic foot if using 3/4 mdf. since you plan on going with a type r in the future, id build a box for that sub. alpine recomends .7-1.0 cubic feet, but their optimum sealed box for the type r is .85 cubic feet. remember, that type e is only 250 watts rms. 400 watts probably wont damage it if the amp is set up correctly, but be carefull.

yea the type e is 250 rms at 4 ohms and the amp is 200 somthin for 4 ohms, and 400 rms for 2 ohms. the type r that i will get is for 2 ohms.

oh and my type e is a 12 and im going to get a 10" type r. the only reason i have the E is because it was free.

screw it, im using my old box that i had my 10 in. its a little over 1 cubic ft which is the minimum requirement. just gotta expand the cut out.

and now i have a place to mount my amp too. its amazing some of the things i think of when i got a couple brews in me:icon_welder:

also, would i be able to run the ground from the amp to the capacitors ground and be ok? that way i have only one ground to connect up and less wire running around the cab.....
