I have had this unit for several years and have put it in two different vehicles with zero problems. Well I took it from a car and it sat on a shelf for a few months and now I am putting it in my Ranger. Its an Alpine CDE-7859. The thing simply doesn't come on. Power is there as is ground. I have evn tried running it directly to the battery and no dice. I have to trash the thing, but unless somebody has some suggestions I guess it's the trash or eBay as the faceplate is good with a few scratches. I have opened the case and it doesn't look like there is a fuse in there, but I didn't do any dis-assembly.

check the back of the radio for a fuse, or if the power lead is still connected there should be a fuse there also.

Nope. No fuse. I am thinking it's toast.

I'll be damn, there is a tiny red button. I will see if that fixes it.

EDIT: DING DING DING!!! We have a winner! Thanks for the tip.

ahh good old trusty alpine you can never go wrong with them they never break.

my guess is it could be some safety feature cause i know i had the same problem when i changed my alpine from car to car.
