Any Alltel customers out there that got switched to Verizon??

Ever since Verizon took over Alltel, my service has sucked ass. I get calls dropped and have little to no service in areas I use to have good service in with Alltel.

I complained to Verizon. They looked in to it and called me back about a week later. They admit others have made the same complaints, but that there is nothing wrong with the system.

This isn't rocket science. If my phone worked with the Alltel towers - Verizon now owns the towers - takes them offline and puts them right back online as Verizon towers and the service turns to crap!!! - then it's obviously a screw up on Verizon's part!!!!!

I can see (2) seperate cell towers and not have a signal.

Verizon says that area had more Alltel usage than Verizon usage, so they kept the Alltel tower. I can't seem to explain to them that it's not working. The bars on my phone fluctuates like it's trying to pick up a distant tower. I don't care what they say, their damn tower isn't working.

Any other Alltel customers experience a drop in service switching to Verizon?

we had some billing issues with the switch. plus we lost things like free texting to other phones on our family plan and we lost our "ring backs"..... butas far as dropped calls we have not had that problem 'cept for a few days when they were working on the towers...... maybe 3 days my phone would not work in my bedroom and I had to go out to the living room.

but the issues have been fixed and our bill is correct now and we got our texting back.

My Wife and I live in a pretty good size farming town in Wisconsin Right next to I-94 we used to have great service here now I have a hell of a time getting service in my home but you drive 10 min in either direction to the middle of the farm country and bam perfect service again. P.I.T.A.

I've had Verizon for almost 7 years now and I can't complain about anything other than the phones themselves. That's hardly a Verizon issue, it's a manufacturing product quality issue.

I was lucky. When they got Alltel we didn't move when they switched. I first had Verizon, and didn't have service at home, so me and the now ex moved to Alltel. I even have my internet through them(just a fancy dial up, but I needed it when I got divorced). I'm waiting for them to drop the Alltel store here and when they do I will probably switch to another carrier. But until then I will stick with Alltel.

i have no problems with my verizon phone service everywhere and u travel 4 to 5 hours a day for work

Around here people bitched about Alltell and love Verizon.
I have Sprint, formerly Nextel, for our cells. Inside my offices, particularly my New Castle, PA office, the cell signal is horrible-to-non-existent.
Now then....
When I complained, Sprint sent me a handy-dandy unit called an Airave which is sort of a cell phone booster that plugs into your modem or router. I don't know how it works other than it's magic. See if Verizon has the same thing, they should. It costs $99 but they'll send you one for free if you threaten to quit. :thefinger: But then I wasn't bluffing either.

I have AT&T. I have no issues what so ever.

I haven't had any issues with my Verizon service up here in NH. When I drive out Indy and back, I still had good signal all the way.

When Verison took over my old carrier last year I had no problems other than there plans cost more and i no longer have unlimited incoming, but now I have unlimited nights and weekends. So I guess thats not a bad trade. Oh and my old company was called Unicel. But I have not noticed any dropped calls.

i went from unicel to verizon and for me the plan changes where better for me in the long run. but the phone i got outta a choice of 3 i picked a moto w755 and its been crap from the day i got it.

^^^^^

Yeah Everyone I have talked to that picked the moto, said it was crap. It will only hold a charge for 1-2 days with light use. I got the LG and have no complaints. And never met anyone that picked the samsung for their choice.

Never had Alltel or Verizon. I have US Cellular. Except for the price, I love them. I get signal almost everywhere, I even get it where my best friend with AT&T has no signal. Very rarely do I get a dropped call. Their customer service has been outstanding.

Well my house is a dead zone for anything wireless but other than that I have never had problems with them.

i got us cellular too. i might not have the best signal where someone else does but i almost always have a signal. i can think of only 2 areas where i dont. yes they are expensive but we know the guy that runs the local "dealer" in sheldon and we always get great customer service.
