Does anyone have any idea if there is a formula for how much weight to put in the tire to internally balance it? I read the chart on the equal website but I think that is for new tires. I tried to get my 35 inch mtr's balanced and they told me I needed a pound and a half of weight on them. They put in some equal but it is no better. Just wondering if I need the same amount of weight inside the tire if I needed a pound and a half on the outside of the rim?

The way BB's work is dynamic, they move around to balance it out. Internal or standard weights would just make them work harder. You can have a chunk of ice or a rock wedged in somewhere and the BB's will just move to compensate it.

I used 9oz (juuust over 1/2 lb) of 20g Airsoft BB's in my GMC's 265/75R16's. They're "Winston Winners", or wayyyyy knockoff BFG's that were not worn very evenly but had overall good tread (and $35 apiece w/ rims). I picked up a set of 4 at the junkyard with rims, ended up taking the tires off, grinding down the rust on the edges with an angle grinder so they'd hold air and be smooth, further smoothed with some sanding. So my rims are a bit questionable too lol.

Other than a very slight rythmic "bounce" right around 40mph (It's done it on all sorts of roads right around that speed), I have ZERO complaints. Balanced my trailer tires too that way. I would absolutely do it again, and really the bounce is not bad at all, seriously.

It rides light years better than the old tires that were on it with weights LOL.

I might start with 9oz, and test run it. If it still shakes, pop the bead off again, try 10.5oz (.65oz) or 12oz (.75 lbs) and see how it runs.

Pics of my rims if that says anything LOL

The way I have done it is by putting the tire and wheel on the balancing machine to see how much weight is needed on that wheel and tire, then I go put that much weight of bbs with just a tad extra for stuff like clumps mud getting on the wheel from off-roading

google around a bit.

depending on rim and stem style I usually just knock the stem in with a lanyard on it and pour the airsofts in with a small funnel or fuel line. I use dynabeads on street tires and bb's in bias muds.

I've used them all.....airsoft beads, BB's, the equalizing compound and golf balls. Yes golf balls. Learned the trick from a guy who changes tires on semis for a living.
