Air only comes out the dash vents.

No matter where I put the slider, all the air comes out the dash in my 87. Is it a royal pain to get in there and see what's not working correctly? No A/C on this. Temperature control doesn't change where the air comes out, but the heat does work. And DAMN good too. But I would like it to blow the air on my feet and the defrost would be nice too come winter.

The cable attached to the vent control in my '86 snapped off and I was left with the same situation. I'm not sure how you feel about ghetto-fied stuff, but I chose to take part of my dash apart and grab the cable with a pair of pliers and adjust it to floor/defrost (mix?) That way I have floor and defrost heat anyway. I haven't moved it off that position for years in my other trucks, so I figured I wouldn't care if it was permanently stuck that way.

I'm betting the cable broke off right where it's attached to the vent control lever.
