just a plain old intake job will not suffice. You will notice a very SLIGHT increase in response from your engine. here, in my opinion, are the pros and cons....
PROS
1) better fuel mileage (albeit very small)
2) low end response
3) cosmetic appearance
4) growl (unless you find this annoying)
CONS
1) it is not all that cheap
2) it is not maintenance free
3) growl (unless it is appealing to you)
Best suggestion - match any intake work you do with exhaust work. This is worth more time and money. Freeing up your restricted intake to get dumped into arestricted exhaust is silly!
I spent i think $100 in total building my intake. Exhaust, including tip, was about $200 (Flowmaster, custom bent pipe and gibson tip). Worth every penny in my eyes.
LOL i call mine the K&N-AIR RAID HOME HARDWARE METAL PIPE WITH BLUE THINGY performance intake; supposedly the best out there right now. Hand crafted to fit my ranger.
