does it make that big of a difference? i wanna get one for my truck. what kind should i get?

thanks

Not a big difference in power but I love the way mine sounds. Since I personally don't see paying 250 bux for something that's really not going to show a substancial increase in power, I made my own for about 30 bux. I'm happy.

just a plain old intake job will not suffice. You will notice a very SLIGHT increase in response from your engine. here, in my opinion, are the pros and cons....

PROS
1) better fuel mileage (albeit very small)
2) low end response
3) cosmetic appearance
4) growl (unless you find this annoying)

CONS
1) it is not all that cheap
2) it is not maintenance free
3) growl (unless it is appealing to you)

Best suggestion - match any intake work you do with exhaust work. This is worth more time and money. Freeing up your restricted intake to get dumped into arestricted exhaust is silly!

I spent i think $100 in total building my intake. Exhaust, including tip, was about $200 (Flowmaster, custom bent pipe and gibson tip). Worth every penny in my eyes. :icon_cheers:

LOL i call mine the K&N-AIR RAID HOME HARDWARE METAL PIPE WITH BLUE THINGY performance intake; supposedly the best out there right now. Hand crafted to fit my ranger.

i have a k&n and an air raid throttle body spacer, not much increase in power but better throttle response and it makes a sweet noise when i get on it and isent that what really matters? lol

I took the missile shaped thingie out of my intake pipe and it helped a lot on the hills. cost=$0 Intake noise=No difference '94 2.3

I found a like-new K&N Cold air intake for $50 at a wrecking yard about a week and 1/2 ago. It feels a little more responsive at low low rpm's, and sounds great. I would NEVER buy one for anything more than $100. the sound effects and "hp gains" are simply not worth what they charge for one.

it would only be woth it if u made one for cheap i personaly want one beacuse its reuseable and the sound
