OK. My sons truck is an 86 4x4 std cab 2.9 liter. I took it in for California smog testing and it passed the emmissions portion. But it failed the visual inspection The idle was too high and the timing wasn't perfect. These are simple enough to fix. I called around today and found a few places to get a new air box, but they all want to know if I have a 2 piece or a 1 piece heat shroud. I don't know what shroud ther're speaking of, but they say it makes a difference in which one I need. Also the local dealer was NO help with searching using the VIN.
Any pointers from the Guru's of Rangers?
Any body parting out the same truck and have the proper air box?

THanks...

They are talking about the shroud covering the passenger side exhaust manifold.
It has ~2" round fitting for the heat riser hose to the thermactor valve.

A-ha. Mine's missing.
My air box does have a two bolt opening that is plated and blocked on the outboard side.Is this where the thermactor valve should be? there is also an approx 1/2" nipple like where a hose should slip on, on the forward side of it. am I getting close?

I only have my 90 to go by.
It had a two-piece shrouds on the manifold.

I'd try to get you a photo of the airbox, shroud and tube at lunchtime, but I can't upload to photobucket while my wife is away with our laptop. Go to Earl43P photobucket account and browse through the photos. I know I took one or two of the airbox, but not the shroud.
