Ok, so my '97 Ranger is having air conditioning issues. 2 things are going on.

1. It is not cooling. It was a week ago for about 5 minutes, but would stop after that. Now with problem 2 it won't cool at all.

2. The air is only coming out through the defroster vents.

I've read another thread about this and tried moving the deflector in the glove compartment, but it did not change where it was coming out. I've also read about the ball (vacuum reservoir?) needing to have 2 inputs. Mine has one going in to the bottom port (from inside the cab) but nothing going in/out of the top port. Can someone help me figure out what lines go where? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Ok, I found the vacuum line that plugs into the top of the bulb. I now have air coming out of the AC vents instead of the defroster vent. The air conditioner is cool on Max AC for about 5 minutes, then it goes warm. If you have it set to AC, it blows warm instantly and won't cool. Any ideas?

I think I figured out my other problem, hot air coming out of AC and cool air coming out of Max AC. It's the blend door problem. I'm going to see if I can fix it with the finish nail method.

Thanks! We'll see how it goes. I think we can buy a new plastic door from Ford for $15 or so, although I'm not 100% positive about that. If so, that's an option.
