Today my 89 2.3, 8-plug Ranger started and ran perfect for about 3 minutes or 1 block in this case. It then started chugging badly and would barely keep running. I nursed it back home and conducted the ancient art of code reading by voltmeter. I got an ECT out of range, an ACT out of range and an ACT open and reading -40deg. The ACT is the obvious culprit; it is running incredibly rich.

I changed the ECT with no improvement as expected, but I can't find the ACT! Does anyone know where this is hidden? It is not in the airbox so it must be somewhere in the intake. I can see the ECT and all the injectors but nothing else. Any chance it is on the bottom of the intake where it is nearly impossible to see?

Any help is appreciated.

John
