Today for the first time ever when leaving the in laws my airbag light in the cluster came on, i shut off the truck and cranked it back up and it went off. I stopped for gas, shut it off to fill, got back in and it came on again. Drive home shut it off again and cranked it back up and it shut off. I pulled DTCs and theres none. Help Please!

Is it staying on, or is it flashing, or does it go out after a while?

It doesnt blink, it stays on. For how long? I dont know for sure i only did a short, less than 5 min drive and it stayed on the whole time.

Well, it should come on for about 10 sec, then go out and stay out. If there is a problem it should go out and then come back on in 30 seconds.

I pulled up the manual, it lists Fuse, wiring, the DLC and the RCM as the possible causes.

If you have communication between the RCM and the scanner then you have a problem with your cluster.

If you don't, then you need to figure that out first.

It should be on for 6 seconds then go off. If it malfunctions it will generally blink three sessions (about a minute or two) then stay on solid until the key is turned off. During the blinking it is throwing a code. I have a shop manual for my 2002 with the codes and they may be the same... if not I'm sure they are available online. Mine was a code 47 a few weeks back, passenger side seatbelt pretensioner. If it isn't blinking I'm not sure what to do. Mine showed pass when I hooked up to the OBDII port so it didn't have airbag codes in there.

9 times out of 10 if it stays solid with no code its a short to ground.

Came back on today for a short drive, got back into the truck and it was off. Whats going on?
