Anyone know a company that makes em?

I'll be in the market this summer, preparing for next winter. God I hate winter.

Pep Boys.........they even come with a 40K mileage warranty

Yes but.. what's the tire?

I'm looking for something that would be good for deep crap. Not just the occasional half inch or ice. Otherwise, I'd pick up a pair to match my Hercules Polar Trax.

Something half bad ass, but not enough that it wont come with studs.

if you want something real crazy, cooper ST's are studable:

but i think weathermasters would be a little more realistic:

they have great factory siping, clean themselves well, and have a soft enough compound that they really grab on the slickery stuff.

Cooper ST eh? How do you think they would handle in snow?

And those weather masters remind me of my polar trax, I think Cooper owns Hercules..

I'm checking out the cooper website, apparently their Discoverer M+S is amazing for winter. Anyone running those?

the st's do ok in the snow as long as they are studded. the tread compound is pretty stiff, so they dont have a lot of grip without the studs. but the wear forever, are tougher than nails, and are amazing self cleaners (they do great once you find some fresh powder, and are also great in mud).

I had Cooper S/T's on my B2 when I had it and I perfected the art of sliding down my hill and into my yard because they were horrible on ice. Good off road, but horrible on ice.

Nope cause they were year round tires and if I had them studded I legally would not be able to run them for most of the spring, most of the fall, and all of the summer.

well there ya go. just like i said, they dont grip ice well unstudded due to the stiff tread compound. studs make up for it :icon_thumby:

Ya but those Hakkapeliitta's I got now aren't studded and they work fine on ice. They have that silica compound.

I'm running these in an LT265/75r15 on my ranger right now for winter. We've gotten over 4 feet of snow in my town right now and I absolutely love these!!! I haven't needed to lock in the hubs yet with these tires. I'm running them studded.

A much better winter tire than the ST

Those look like they have a good amount of tread, that's also something I look for when I'm searching for a good tire. More tread can mean less of a chance that it will get packed in and not have good grip..

I checked out the Hakkapeliitta's and I don't know. They look like they would be good on ice, but not soft snow.
