I am currently looking at putting a body lift on my '88 Bronco II. It has the floor shifter with the jack shaft and rod style shift linkage. I've already put a set of aftermarket headers on the engine and had to cut and modify the linkage to get it to work with the headers. I will not be able to use the current linkage when I lift the body and am looking for some type of cable operated floor mounted shifter to replace it with, either aftermarket or from another vehicle. I contacted B&M and they don't have a listing for a direct replacement for the Bronco II A4LD, so I hoped maybe someone here could tell me if they've had any success with an aftermarket shifter for their truck or been able to modify one from another vehicle to work correctly. Any info or direction you guys/gals could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the one from the lincoln lsc might work for you. there are several cable shifters availble at the junk yard. look for one that has a long enough cable and will fit the space you have for mounting it. I was going to use the lsc shifter for my 5.0 swap but never got to that point.

cable operated shifter

I have also been looking for a cable operated shifter for the a4ld trans. I havent had any luck either. I am trying to install the pacesetter headers that they claim fits that aplication. How did you fabricate your linkage to get yours to fit? pacesetter suggests a cable operated shifter, but they cant suggest a place to get them. thanks for any info.

I run a B&M Truck Megashifter on mine. Works fine. Had to reinforce the floor by building a thicker cutout as the factory one wasn't adequate for a ratchet style shifter.
