I'm new here, but just wondering if anyone knows of good (better than stock) aftermarket heads for the 2.9 v6?

It appears the World Products heads are no longer available, but maybe someone knows where they can still be found?

In the tech article here it lists "Clearwater" heads, but It's not clear to me if these heads are just new heads that are the same as the stock castings or if they are indeed stronger/better than stock?

Thanks

I found a set of aftermarket on Ebay years ago, but don't see the company listed and I can't remember who it was. But they worked fine, no problems with them. If you want world heads, keep looking and wait until you come across them. Ask Camcraft, too to see if they have any World cataings still lying around. Give clear water a call and get the info from the "horse's mouth." They are out there, just need to keep an eye out.

haha i'm pretty sure swapping in a 4.0 isn't the resolution for everything, it'd be nice if you had the money, i have a 2.9 and theres no reason for a 4.0.....Right now haha. But i've tried finding aftermarket heads and have had no luck.

:threadjacked: I'm curious is cracked heads on a 2.9 somethings that's inevitable:icon_confused:

don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to. :D but if they haven't yet, you will probably be alright if you keep the cooling system in good order.

I have after market heads with a 50% thicker casting brand new still in the box/plastic they arnt from Worlds though...

World Heads product was just a cure for cracked heads. It wasn't an exotic performance part. The fact is, a 4.0 IS the cure for everything 2.9. A 4.0 is probably cheaper than a pair of new 2.9 heads. It's a lot more powerful, has a better fuel injection system, has a better accessory drive, is easier to work on because of it and is the same size and weight. The swap isn't difficult, though it is tedious. Nothing you can do to your 2.9 will do anything for it. You can only try to take care of it. I would start looking for a 4.0 to grab up in the meantime.
