Hello,

Not sure if this is the place to stick this, move it if it is not please!

I have a 95 Ranger XLT and I want to put an electric radiator fan, and remove the crank fan. I'm not a super mechanic and I don't have a lot of tools, so I am looking for a bolt on aftermarket cooling fan that is electric and dead simple to hook up and install, or easy within and hour to install for my mechanic if needed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Drach

Old thread, but thought I'd post for future searches on this subject.

I used a 2 speed Mark VIII (Lincoln/Taurus) fan. Got it for $35 bucks from a junk yard. The electric motors are easily replaceable, and can be bought from a automotive parts store. I cut the plastic shroud off to give me just the "rim, fan, and electric motor" assembly. I then removed the Rangers fan shroud from the truck (after getting the clutch fan off; that bolt is a pain). I then used long bolts and plastic spacers to "fit" the Mark VIII fan within the stock shroud. I then installed the stock shroud into the truck.

The most important install of this e-fan conversion is the controller. Do not "cheap out"! Get a good quality controller. I bought mine from Ron Francis (ggogle Ron Francis fan controller). It was $140.00, but its probubly the best kit out there for installing, as all the wires are labled on the insulation as to what they are used for, the wire gauge is correct, it has the start relays built into the circuit board, it has adjustments for temp "on" temp "off", and after a year of running this setup, I have not had a single failure with it.

The best part of this setup is the quiet! No more clutch fan roar, and no more drag on the water pump or engine for that clutch fan.

Here's a pic of the modified (cut off of the Mark VIII shroud plastic) sitting in a F150 fan shroud. The ranger shroud has a smaller "hole", so the Mark VIII fan fits into the shroud "hole" with less gap (no need to seal the gap by the way). 4 plastic spacers, 4 long bolts/nuts installed at the upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right, and it will center nicely into the stock shroud:
