Hey everyone,

I am attempting to install an aftermarket alarm system into my 2004 Ford Ranger Edge..

I am a little stuck though, I am unsure of the location of the ignition switch harness in my truck, does anyone know where I might find it?
I know it is under the dash but there are so many wires and im not exactly sure which one I should be looking at.

Thanks

I'm not trying to be rude...but have you ever attempted something like this before? Do you know what wires you can probe and what you can't? If you get the wrong wire with a voltage probe when looking for things like constant power, switched power, blower, etc, you can do weird things like set off the air bags, or even engage the starter. If you've got doubts about the install, consult with someone who has done this before.

The ignition harness is going to be the one that disappears up the steering column. There's going to be a few wires in there as it also contains wires for the horn, cruise, lights, wipers, and of course all the ignition stuff.

No, I haven't tried this before, I have done car stereos many times but nothing like this. Im going to do some research before hand so I get it right the first time. any other tips?

every time i install an alarm system i take the key cylinder out so you see all the wires that connect to them it makes life a whole lot easier... cause you can see exactly wat wires do wat when you turn the key..

thanks for the tips, the installation was a success.
