yea im going to buy a ranger, so you guys better get used to seeing me here :)

after researching the rock solid 4cyl motors and the rock solid m5od-r1 trannys that come in all 5 speeds, im going to buy one.

i will be getting a 4cyl 5speed 2wd singlecab shortbed ranger 98+

need to start looking :)

can find like an 02 with ~60k on it for about 4thousand

the bottom line is that i want a daily driver thats super reliable and super easy and fun to work on, and in my opinion the ranger beats out dodge and chevy all day long.

Awesome - welcome - we will be glad to steer you in the right direction - either quickly down a smooth paved strip or to the nearest mud hole or rock pile. Good luck in your search . . .

Nice choice and Welcome to the site.

Buy with as low milage as possible. The 5 speeds are a little weak. They are not heavy duty transmissions.

My 92 hasn't given me problems at all except for the slave cylinder that I replaced December 07. In my case 95,000 was it for the slave cylinder.

I've had no engine or tranny problems but I only have 104,000 on it. Many here are at 200,000+ without major problems. Some complain that the Ranger hasn't been updated in years. However, when you get it right there's no need to change.:icon_cheers:

it sounds like your pretty set on what you want. just my opinion but i think you would be much happier with a 6 cyl and an extra cab. i know a few people who regret getting their 4-banger single cabs. one of my friends with 32's is getting about my gas mileage as me when i have 35's and still have more power.

goodluck on your truck though.

Cool man. Welcome to the forum. I had a 99 reg cab shortbed two wheeler that took quite the beating, while maintaining reliability and super sexy good looks. You made the right decision bud.:icon_thumby:

if im correct, there could be 3 different trannys in your 92. theres 2 different mitsu trannys and then the m5od. in 93 they switched to m5od only.

congrats. Post some pics as soon as you pickup your new baby. Lots of great info from really knowledgeable folks on here. I am sure you will love your truck!

Good luck and welcome.
