I want to get a aftermarket steering wheel with no air bag. Im not a big fan of the big stock one. I know i need a steering wheel hub adapter but unsure of which one. 5 bolt ?6 bolt? and then get a steering wheel that bolts to the hub adapter. I understand also that i will have to relocate the cruise control and thats not a big deal. I got plans for that to put it into that dash

So has anyone does this before if so can you provide alittle information so I know what to buy. Thanks

:yahoo:

Anyone know anything about this. Just need specifics of what adapter I need to get to be able to hook it up to the steering collumn and such. And then obviously i need the steering wheel that fits the hub adapter.

gracias

HELP HELP

I want a smaller in diameter steering wheel. Like a three spoke. I guess yes they are racing real. Just cant find the information on what steering wheel hub adapter I need. ugh

Thats really expensive steering wheel.

I was thinking of something more like this. I had one in my other car and loved it. Its alittle smaller in diameter than stock. Good grip and really light.

Of course the horn butter will be painted black instead of the JDM symbol haha. RICERs :thefinger:

I just need to know if i need a 6 hole adapter or 5 hole or what?
Someone has had to have done this before I would think

I thought this was illegal to do in most locations I the US

The adapter you need will depend on the steering wheel you buy. If the wheel has 5 holes, you will need a 5 hole adapter. The two that are pictured have 6 holes, so you will need a 6 hole adapter. You can find them on ebay.

Not at all.

Yes it is.

I had a really short teacher in high school, she had to get a letter from the governor to have a shop disable the airbag in her car.

I went the other way (3 spoke Grant to stock) and can't believe how much better the stock wheel feels. It steers so much nicer it is unbelievable.

It steers better because its probably bigger. More mechanical advantage to turn the wheels.

My old man put a smaller racing-style wheel in his 94 wrangler and it sucked to drive.

you may be quick to speak for all 50 states (and be wrong)

i will just speak for the state i live in/am a certified safety inspector in:
vehicles with removed air bags= not legal:
2. Check Air Bag.

a. REJECT when:
1) Air bag has been deployed or is not present when originally
equipped on the vehicle.

also here in utah those steering wheels (320mm = 12.5") are illegal

B. SIZE
1. Check size of steering wheel.
a. REJECT when:
1) Steering wheel is less than 13 inches in outside diameter or is
not of full circular construction. (SAE Recommended Practice
SAE J287).

seen in the utah state safety inspection manual here: http://publicsafety.utah.gov/safetyinspections/docs/2011-2012 SI PLT Manual.pdf
