Yeah, it's a 28 spline axle shaft, and a 8.8” diameter ring gear. The axle tubes are a tad smaller in diameter than that of an exploder. It's only 3 inches around

You could also try a Lincoln MarkVIII axle. Most if not all have disc brakes. Unfortunatly it will be wider than the front. The explorer 8.8 works out to the same as the D35 for WMS-WMS.

that would be a Lincoln Mk7, not a Mark8.

the Mark8 has IRS as the chassis is based on the 1989-up MN12 Thunderbird chassis.
