hello! i'm new here, obviously, and i have a question. in february, i rolled my 94 ranger in the snow. the truck wasn't damaged severely, however, it requires a cab replacement. now, my truck's got 231k OR MORE on it. it's got some other issues too, but i have a parts truck (93 ranger). my question is should i cough up the 1k the body man wants, to restore it? or buy the 1998 4.0 V6 5 spd extended cab from the local car dealer. it's got just over 200k, it runs pretty good, shifts pretty good, and is in a LOT better shape. any advice welcome. any known serious issues with the 98 rangers? bad transmissions? engine? i want to get a truck i can go mess around in, and then turn around and haul trailers or move pallets.

whats the 1k for? cant you replace cab yourself? how attached are you to the rolled truck? consider this after 213k miles you could also soon be looking to rebuild or replace motor. in my opinion get the 98 and fix what needs to be fixed then when 4.0l gives out rebuild or replace it

I gotta agree with Demon on this. Unless that 94 has serious sentimental value (given to you by a well liked dead relative or lost your virginity in it) or you can do the cab swap yourself.

Get the 98 and do the 94/93 as a project truck in your spare time.

Agree with above. Why spend $1000.00 on a truck that's worth $500.00 once fixed.

Get 6 friends and a socket set and fix the truck.

Rebuild the engine while you are at it. Easier to get in and out with the cab off. I wouldn't buy anything newer than a 97. Front end isn't as strong, harder to work on, parts are more expensive.
