Sorry in advance for the length of this post.:D

I bought this truck basically as it is from an old friend who had the SAS done professionally. Although I am slowly replacing worn items such as shocks and bushings, sorting out some engine issues, the truck works very well and I will post some images later to help.

D44 front and a 9" spool in the back. Slightly modified 4.0, stock tranny and tranfer case.

My current project or issue is the ride stiffness. I have yet to ID the actual spring packs used. The truck when I got it was sprung like a gocart...stiff as hell even on-road....off road it was intolerable (I have it mainly for off road). I removed two of the lower (smallest) leafs. It came with a small camber wedge on the perch pinned with the leaf pack. To compensate for some of the ride heigh loss, I machined two new thicker wedges (blocks).
Result, the absolute perfect amount of flex and ride quality I wanted. BUT, I lost the ride height and then had issues with tire clearance (35's) with the coachwork.
So I put back one leaf, kept the taller wedges and have my ride height back but the dental distruction ride quality is also back!

-I know I will eventually have to replace the wedges/blocks with some kind of permanent structure on the axels for camber (another issue for later) but for now am trying to come up with a combination I can live with first.

-When I was at the ride stiffness/flex I wanted, the spring pack was quite flat with little arc to it in the middle section. Not sure if this is an issue or not.

Options: : :icon_confused:

1. Re-arc the thinner leaf pack (may become too stiff…?)
2. Go back to thinner leaf pack, but regain clearance and ride height with a set of shackles at one end (forward) of the springs.
3. Body lift? (not too keen on this, want to keep COG lower)
4. Cut the fenders all off….:shok: not a chance...:D

I have poured over the Ranger Station for some info on this topic specifically. Although I learned some cool stuff, nothing on this particular issue. Closest thing I found was an article about old Scouts saggy rear springs on another site. (They used air bags to correct)

Any help you folks could provide would be much appreciated.

Met a pro spring guy today.
He told me to find the rate I liked and he could re-arc the springs to whatever ride height I needed. Case closed.
