Advice on buying a 2005 or 2006 Ranger

Hello all I am new to this site. I am looking to buy either a 2006 Ford Ranger 4 cyl., 5 speed manual trans with a/c. It has 36,000 miles and it is from a dealer. The other is a 2005 Ranger almost identical except it has a 5 speed auto transmission, it has 7200 miles on it and it is in showroom condition. I prefer having a manual transmission for the better fuel economy. But the 05 ranger is in exceptional condition. Any ideas on the highs and lows of fuel economy? And what about these transmissions, are they reliable?

What are the prices? Probly go the 06 just for the manual.

They want 9849 for the 06, and 8900 for the 05. I wish some on e could tell me what I could expect for fuel milage.

I'd say 21/26, slightly better with the manny. go for the 06 and try to at least haggle him down a couple hundred bucks. Come to think of it that 06 has about 4X the miles and standards are cheaper anyways so it should be priced closer to the 05 since it is only one year newer.

I'd haggle on the 06 a lot less miles std trans JMO.

MPG will be barely noticable. The current day auto trannys are calibrated so well at the shift points I think some may out do a poor driver on MPG. I would base my decision on: do you want to shift or not? My personal opinion would be for the auto, but that is because I'm getting lazy in m old age. I would keep looking, those prices seem just a tad high.
