In the near future I plan to purchase a new pair of subs. I had 4 JL Audio 12w3v3-4 subs before in a bronco II. I now have a 95 extra cab Mazda that I want to put some in. I was planning on getting 2 more of these subs but in 2 ohm, but I also have considered maybe 13w3v3-2. My question to any of you that have dealings with JL Audio, is it worth the $120 for 1 inch bigger sub? I am going to build my own box, I am going for ALOT of bass and I do have an amp with enough butt to push either one. Especially considering both have the same power ratings. All advice is welcome. :headbang:

good question some one better them me needs to answer i can do some research about them. i dont think there would be an increase in DB its really only a half inch on eather side but it prolly has alot to do with the frecs and tone but thats my guess ill get back to you on this

i look up the subs and i like JL personally, they not really power hugery subs.

but i lookes at the 13.5 inch subs they move more air. but idk were there getting 54% more air from. but there displacemt is larger so its up to you really, but is it worth idk again up to you buttt look at the ohms ver the size of box youll need. that might make a difference.

i definitely like jl subs had a few myself but only 10's and 12's. depending on the type of music you listen to depends on what size id suggest. also one thing to look at is your pretty limited on premade boxes if thats the route you choose cause of the odd size. I personally wouldnt go any bigger than 12's. the bigger the speaker the harder to find a song that hits the right bass note to match it. never been a fan of 15's for that reason. to low of a frequency.

The ohm will be the same, I plan to get 2 ohm subs when I order them so that wont make the difference. Premade boxes are out of the question, and I will be listening to all kinds of music. I used to be hooked n Rockford Fosgate when I was in school but that was years ago, now all I will use is JL Audio. The 4 I had in my Bronco II where the first I had by them. They really impressed me and plan to stick with them. Just gotta decide on the size. :icon_confused:

jl is very overpriced imo, you can get alot more product for you dollar when your not buying the jl name. google sundown audio if your looking for high end equipment. but if your set on jl id go with some w6v2's

i dont know how they did it but the 13.5 are better then the 12s. i heard a set in a audio shop a few months ago and it was rediculoius. jl are over priced but they always seem to have them on sale.

i had 1 12 w3 in my 93 ext cab and it sounded good then upgraded to a 12w6 and that is way more then most people need/want

JL's are a little over priced but I found a few places online to get them alot cheaper than I paid for the first ones I got. w6's are out of the question I am not spending that much money. Thats why I asked about the 12 or 13 w3's. I know there are many other options out there but these are the only 2 I am trying to decide between. Please don't flame me or think I am trying to be an arse about it. But I did state that those were the 2 I am trying to decide between. I have no personal experience with the 13's so I am looking for advice from anyone that has if the 13's are worth the extra money over the 12's.

the 12 w3's are really good subs i also had 2 in the same 93 in a ported box i would say yea get the 2 ohm and do a sealed box and it will be more then enough

the 13 is going to get down lower than the 12. thats assuming theyre getting the same power and in the same enclosure. jl builds nice subs that can take some abuse. in my opinion, theyre overpriced. you can definitly get a better sub for the money. but since its only between the 13w3 and the 12w3 id go with the 13.
