I have been reading, looking at pictures reading some more but can't find any definitive answers that actually help me.

I recently got an already caged front to back 94 ranger and I'm a little stumped on what guys generally run for sizes of shocks and or coilovers.

I have measured the rear droop of my axle to the shock mounting bolt and it seems very long compared to what I have seen in sizes from guys using bed cages. Am I confused on how to measure or do I really need a 30 inch shock body?

From mounting bolt to top of leaf spring while just sitting here its approx. 29.5 inches resting....any advice?

Doesn't make sense to me when most run a 14 or 16 inch shock?

14" or 16" means the amount the shock extends from full compression. Ex: 16" of travel.

Yes I understand that part...so just an approx length of a 16" inch travel shock the total length would be 32" give or take. Meaning I think I would need a longer shock body...? Or ?

You need both the extended and compressed lengths before you do any shopping. Compressed means using the tape measure and figuring out the length totally compressed or remove the springs and get an actual measurement with the axle sitting on the bumpstops, and don't forget the stops will compress under load....leave a little extra. Fully extended means remembering the springs will still extend more than what just jacking up the bumper will give, or using some straps to prevent over extending the shock.
I believe that a 16" shock would be double plus some for the attachment points, probably on the order of 34-36" or so, maybe more for the piston and seals.

Ok makes sense...just don't want to order something that won't work especially at the prices good gear goes for!

I cant seem to find what i need to answer my new questions after a day of searching. Just wondering if i can get some more info. I have tackled most of my suspension questions with searching and asking but I have a few more questions about TIB setups.

I can get a good deal on some used 14" travel sway a way coilovers off of another ranger. He used them on an aftermarket setup but I'm running f150 beams. My problem I'm having is not the shock hoop but how to mount the bottom of the coilover? I've looked for brackets and such??
I assumed weld some brackets but the beams say do not weld heat or cut so I am stumped....

please enlighten me on how...or if it's not a good idea to run coils and just run longer shocks instead?

Appreciate all the help!
