Got a code reader an Actron. Found the OBD socket under dash. Plugged scanner into port. Followed directions from
scanner. Not information just saying retry. Did not get any codes. The check engine lite is on at dash. My truck is a 2002 Ranger V6 auto 4X4. I do not have scanner directions.

Sounds like an issue I had last week checking a Pontiac at my store. Called a mechanic friend and he said to unhook the negative battery cable for a few seconds then reconnect. It cleared up the connection issue. Don't worry, it won't clear the code stored in the puter.

Hope this helps dude!
