Okay so what I have going on is Explorer 5.0 with a 4R70 AWD setup swapping into an 86 2.9 ranger. If at all possible id like to keep the newer transmission with the overdrive rather than going the C4/C5 combination route. Another thing is I have quite a few bw1350 transfer cases so id rather use them than finding a full size NP-205 or 208.
Now my question. From what I understand, most of Ford's full size transmissions have the same bolt pattern from them to the transfer cases, or so I have read. On the engine swap page it has a couple adapters listed from Advance Adapter's website but they claim its only for a manual 5-speed. Why couldn't a guy use one of these on a full size auto like the 4R70W? Any thoughts?
