Need help. ! Trying to add a leaf to my rear springs on a 85 b2. Directions say to put it near the bottom of the stack but there is a clamp that holds the springs together near the front that's in the way.any suggestions?

Remove the clamp and put it on the end of the AAL is what I would do (if you need to drill a hole, you WILL need a cobalt bit, cutting oil, and a variable-speed drill to successfully drill spring steel)

I was thinking about taking it off all together. I'd have to grind a rivet off. Will it cause a problem being left off ?

Does the spring have one or two clamps? If two, removing one most likely won't be an issue. If that's the only clamp it has though, then removing it may allow the leaves to splay out in different directions, possibly damaging them.
