I am looking to lift my truck about 4" once my brackets come in the mail, and I need to order a new pitman arm.

I was wondering if anyone has measurements for the drop on the various brands of pitman arms? I know the Skyjacker extreme is the only one that 4", and the rest are 2-2.5" or so, but I am trying to figure out which of the smaller ones are the biggest...

http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=pitman+arm+ranger&Ns=Price|Asc

Summit Racing lists ones from Pro Comp, Tuff Country, and Super Lift for $65-70... They actually list two Super Lift ones, one being for manual steering, which I didn't know rangers ever had?

I was wondering if anyone with a Pro Comp, Tuff Country, or Super Lift pitman arm has, or can, measure the actual ammount of drop?

Thanks.

Is it true that you need to make sure the steering rod needs to be "level" before taking a measurement from the bottom of the steering box/splines to the steering rod in order to get a pitman arm with the correct amount of "drop"? (I put a manual box on mine--got tired of fixing leaks.....now I need a damper to eliminate bump-steer/lane changes)

I cant speak about a 2wd so much, but if I recall correctly on a 4x4 the pivot bolts should be 1" higher than the tie ends, and the center of the drag link or whatever its called is ideally around 1" higher than the pivot bolts.

At least, thats what I recall from an article around here about aligning these trucks. Its a superb article I can NEVER find when Im looking for it though lol

traction beam trucks use the same basic box, ranger to f350.

many jeep and certain dodge arms and even some gm arms are fit-able.
