acts like rev limit mode

92 4.0 ranger acts like it hits rev limiter at 2000 rpm in any gear and park. No codes. Tried replacing maf but does the same thing. Any ideas. Thanks

My explorer did the same thing ended up being the catalytic converter was plugged.

Replaced cat, maf, coil pac, fuel filter, plugs and wires. Sealed breather leaks. Fuel pressure ok. No codes on koeo or koer. All sensors that I can read look ok. Idles great and is good to 2000 rpm when it starts it cut mode, surges and will not rev higher. Tach will mess up if staying there. Starting to beleive it is a computer problem. Do these have an issue with that? HELP!!!! Thanks

Did you check the TPS? also is your egr valve working correctly? And I don't know if the IACV would cause this, but it's worth a cleaning. If all those check out, I would be on the hunt for a vacuum leak.
