anyone ever heard to put acetone in your gas for better mpg i heard it i just dont wanna try it idk if there are side affects to it any suggestions??

Just go to the search bar at the top, there was just a discussion on this not too long ago.

BTW, I wouldn't do it.

Be very careful handling Acetone! It is extremely volatile. The vapors are heavier than air & it will evaporate from any container (including gas tanks) drop to the floor & if it finds a source of ignition (like an outlet or switch) you've got a bad fire on your hands.

H.E. Carb's

so there is a possibility acetone can alter air fuel power ratios
-remember high octane gasoline? - more power from less fuel needed from slower burn and timing advance!

why do drag racers run high octane?
what is in high octane fuel that over processed junk gas does not have in it anymore?

From the other thread on this subject its my understanding that 8oz in a full tank work kinda like a fuel additive without hte detergents. Better MPG's more power, not much but a little. and No damage. I dont know about the newer sensored up vehicles but it def wonthurt the older ones--say obd1 and older. It should be ok in a 97 ranger being the first year of obd2(least to my knowledge this i might be wrong on double check for yourself)
