Acceleration Put Into Perspective

Now concerning the last part, and this came from a friend about the dragster beating the corvett:

Let's take the worst case senario: The "twin turbo Z06" travels at 200mph and can't accelerate at all past this speed at all.

At 200mph, it takes you 18 seconds to travel a mile (60 x 60 / 200)

That means, it takes you 4.5 seconds to travel a quarter mile (18 / 4)

Assuming the driver of the dragster's reaction time is ZERO (instead of launches and starts after you), and assuming he's equalling Doug Kalitta's record setting 4.420 run, he's only going to pass you at 0.080 seconds before the end of the track.

If he has a typical reaction time or the corvette is actually accelerating like it would or he doesn't have the record setting run, the corvette will hit the quarter mile first.
I was doing the math myself when I saw you came up with the same 4.5 sec's. I used 60 mph = 88 ft/sec but came up with the 4.5 sec.
I did see something real similar to this in the mid-late 60's at the Bryon Dragstrip. They had two A/SS Dodges way back in the pits and two fuelers on the line. Let the fulerers go when the SS's cross the line. Was so harry at the far end they never, ever did that again.

i just thought of it, but 11.2 gallons per second for the fuel consumption? i dont think that could be true. It maybe, but that is redicoulous.

Im going to google a 40,000 gallon per hour pump(at 11 per second, that what it comes too), and see what comes up....i doubt its anything you could fit on a dragster.

heres a 390 gpm pump...which it the same at 40,000 an hour just about.....you would need something of this size to transfer the fuel needed to run a dragsters engine at full trottle...even though that pump doesnt look big, it is...it uses a 7.5 hp electric motor. That pump is huge.
