Ok I've been lookin all afternoon yesterday and couldn't find the info I was looking for. I have absolutely no experience with A/C systems and im learning as I go. I'm out of town for work and I won't be going home for a week or more depending on when California quits burning up lol. I am running a 91-F-150 HO block and accessories.

My first question is will the F-150 compressor work with the stock 2.9 ac hoses? If so then I have everything I need to hook it up!

Second is will a Ranger compressor mount in place of the F-150 compressor? If so is it possible to swap out the Ranger and F-150 compressor clutch and pulleys?

What did everybody else do to keep their AC?

Sorry.........I got nothing (I finally wore out the OEM GM "pancake-style" compressor on my engine, so I bought a Sanden compressor last week with the aftermarket bracket/adapters for my engine---I previously installed a Vintage Air dash unit/upgraded-condenser a few years ago---it worked great until the compressor fizzled)

ther's all kinds of hose adapter-fittings from OLD AIR....Vintage Air...etc...so you can fit your existing hoses to different compressors...but it's a mix-n-match game!

Hey now I have a Idea of what needs to be done! Thanks DG I appreciate it!

Mounting it to the block will probably be the easier part. As long as you have the correct pulley for the proper type of belt, and that you keep the pulley in line with the others you're good. The problem will be the hoses.

IIRC, the mounting point to the back of the compressor is the big issue, while the connection points (accumulator and condensor) are the easy parts. You'll have to double check of course but I was under the assumption that they're all Ford quick-connects.

I do have the F-150 compressor and it's already mounted on the motor. I don't know about the hoses is my problem but I'm really hoping they're all the same so I can get a new condensor or maybe buy longer hoses and put the one I have between my fan and radiator if that won't make it over heat? I was thinking of puting weather stripping between them all the way around to seal it up. If it fits between the fan and radiator that is.
